The current favorite of Bollywood’s fashion forwards is the belted sari. Actress Sonam Kapoor, Rakulpreet Singh and Shruti Hassan recently accessorised their saris with stylish belts.
Belted saree is an innovative concept of including belt in a saree which provides a modern touch to this beautiful traditional wear.This is not so new but now a day it is in trend. The designers have introduced fabulous designs in belted sarees and the concept of belted saree is hugely admired.
“Goddess Saraswati, Durga and Lakshmi wear saris with kamarbandhs. This style is inspired by goddesses,” says designer Rina Dhaka.
Experts say the style belongs the goddesses! “I have a beautiful painting of goddess Saraswati in my room, wearing a watermelon pink belted sari.
Designer Payal Khandwala says that the kamarbandh is making a comeback as belts worn over sari. “Kamarbandhs were a popular accessory that women used to team with saris. Belts can also similarly spice up a plain sari,” she says. Agrees designer Anupama Dayal.”I love belted saris. They work well for petite bodytypes,” For a formal look, designer Anavila Misra suggests teaming your belted sari with a shirt. “It will give a cool work vibe that’s organised and no-nonsense,” says Misra.
