Lipsticks are the most cherished things in a woman’s makeup kitty, period. Here are some lipstick hacks that will help you rock your favourite lippy in the best possible way.
Exfoliate the lips
Before applying that lipstick scrub your lips gently to get rid of dead skin cells on the surface. This will ensure a smooth application of lip color.
Don’t go overboard with the lip balm
Moisturising the lips is a good idea but too much of lip balm will discourage the lipstick from sticking on to your lips. Instead apply a thin layer and wait for ten minutes before wearing the lipstick.
Prime those lips
Many of us have pigmented lips and the right shade doesn’t show on our lips. It’s a good idea to use a primer on your lips before applying lipstick. Primer also keeps the lipstick from feathering and makes it last longer.
Use a lip liner on the lips as well
We all know that the primary job of a lip liner is to keep the lipstick in its boundaries. Apart from that filling in the lips with lip liner will help the lipstick adhere better to your lips.
Use powder to set lipstick
Does your lipstick bleeds often? It’s time to set it well…with a powder. After applying the lipstick, dust your lips lightly with loose or translucent powder. Apply another layer of lipstick and you are good to go.
Keep lipstick off the teeth
To avoid lipstick on teeth nuisance, try this simple trick. After using lipstick, stick one clean finger in your mouth, clamping your lips around it. Pull it out and all the extra lipstick will be on your finger.
Use a brush to apply lipstick
Applying lipstick directly from the tube may not cover all the creases and corners. Hence, using a lip brush is a good idea for precise application. Using a brush will give you more control over the edges and thinner corners.
Tone down that color
If you think your bold matte lipstick is too loud for the occasion, subdue it will a sheer gloss. Similarly, blotting your bright glossy lipstick with a tissue and dusting it with powder will tone it down making it more wearable.
For fuller lips
If you want a bolder pout, dab some highlighter on the centre of your bottom lip.. Highlighter adds extra volume making your lips look fuller.
Taking off the stain
If you are having a hard time taking off the lipstick stain from you lips, try coconut oil instead of chemical makeup remover which might dry the lips. Coconut oil will dissolve the stain while moisturising your lips.
