Harshvardhan Kapoor, who made his big Hollywood debut with Mirzya, went onto win a handful of Best Debut trophies at various award functions. And the 26-year-old actor was expecting the same at Filmfare Awards which took place recently. But to his surprise, the Best Debut trophy went to Diljit Dosanjh for Udta Punjab. And this doesn’t gone down too well with Junior Kapoor.
The Mirzya actor in an interview to Mid-Day lashed out at Filmfare for giving the award to the Punjabi actor. He expressed his displeasure over not winning the award and said,” Although I was really looking forward to winning the black lady. But I guess every awards event has its own parameters. I’ll be honest, though. i think a debutant award is meant for someone working on his first film. It shouldn’t go to an actor who has worked in several films in another industry or language.”
Diljit is a popular name in Punjabi cinema and has worked in many projects including the hit Jatt & Juliet franchise. Kapoor did not stop here. He added, “For instance, if Leonardo DiCaprio works in a Hindi film, is he making an acting debut? He has already worked in so many Hollywood films.”
While his debut film tanked at the box office, Harshvardhan is busy working on his second film Bhavesh Joshi. “I am really excited about the film, because it is an interesting subject,”he added.
A source says, “Harshvarshan is a perfectionist. His dedication and attention to detail impressed his last film’s director, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. For his role in Bhavesh Joshi, he is learning different taekwondo blocks called makgic burat for an action sequence. Harsh goes the extra mile for his roles and enjoys the entire process. He has never had any martial art training before, and wanted to train so that the scene looks authentic.”
